Judy Larson to B&R Sunday

Renowned artist offers book signing, art demonstration and free hand-embellishing at Canyon Country

Judy Larson uses the scratchboard technique. Working on smooth clayboard, a board with a white china clay surface, she paints her subject solidly with black India ink. Then, using a knife and blades that she changes every few minutes, she scratches out magnificent detail.

Sunday, Nov. 7, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., world-renowned artist Judy Larson will meet collectors in person, answer questions and hand-embellish limited edition canvases in the at B&R Gallery in Canyon Country. Original paintings will be available for sale as well.

Larson's art has been featured in three books. Her newest book, "Horse, Indian, Wolf," was just released in 2010, and she will be signing books at the show.

Larson is a very talented artist with a unique scratchboard technique that brings magnificent detail to her work, and she will demonstrate her technique at the show. Larson's passions about the environment and the plight of wildlife, and her respect for Native Americans, are often portrayed in her artwork. She is also known for her "Art of concealment"- hidden images within each work.

Hand embellishing is available to the first 20 customers to order a limited edition canvas at the show. Pre-orders will be accepted by phone at (800) 255-6498. This is a free event, and purchase is not required to attend.

There will be a wine tasting and refreshments will be served. There will be plenty of food, fun and art to enjoy.
