If it’s 11 a.m. on Tuesday mornings, do you know where your business marketing guru is? If you are near your computer this morning, you can find Craig Duswalt, founder of the RockStar System for Success, on the premiere broadcast of his new Internet-based radio show, “RockTalk.”

Duswalt, former assistant to the band Air Supply, and past personal manager to Axl Rose of the rock band Guns N’ Roses, will host the show 11 a.m. every Tuesday on The radio show is aimed at entrepreneurs, small-business owners and the self-employed.

“The program will focus on interviews and marketing strategies so people can achieve rock-star status in their industry,” Duswalt said. “It is for regular people to learn how to use outside-the-box marketing strategies so they can stand out from the competition.”

Duswalt founded the RockStar System for Success less than two years ago and now hosts a four-day RockStar Marketing BootCamp every March and September in Los Angeles.

“Many of the techniques I teach are ones I learned while on the road with Guns N’ Roses and Air Supply,” he said.

“The same principles of how rock stars promote themselves to fill stadiums can be used to attract clients to ordinary businesses.”

Duswalt, who appears around the country giving motivational speeches, said he decided radio was an effective means to reach more people.

“I speak all the time, reaching 200-300 people at a time,” he said. “Internet radio is taking the country by storm, so I decided it was a great way to reach more people.”

In addition, a podcast of the weekly broadcast will be available.

“ITunes is a great place for traffic on the Internet. So I wanted to get everything I teach onto iTunes,” said. “The podcast will also be available on Facebook, and”

Duswalt said he plans to have real rock stars appear on his program.

“I already have Russell Hitchcock, lead singer of Air Supply; Kevin Cronin, lead singer of REO Speedwagon; Eddie Money; Ray Parker Jr.; Slash from Guns N’ Roses; and Brian May from Queen booked for future dates,” he said.
“When I don’t have a ‘rock star’ rock star, I will feature a business rock star.”

Among the business rock stars Duswalt has lined up is Derrick Hall, a former Santa Clarita Valley resident, now president and CEO of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Larry Broughton, Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, is also booked for a future appearance.

“I will also have actors, motivational speakers and anyone who has an interesting business success story to share,” Duswalt said.

Duswalt, who also provides individual business coaching and mentoring, said in this economic climate businesses need to work harder to attract customers.

“Everyone in the Santa Clarita Valley — everyone outside of major cities — is doing the same thing that everybody else does in their business,” he said. “Everyone’s marketing plan is the same. Businesses need help to learn that there are other ways to market.”

His mantra to business is to “think outside of the box.”

“Do things a little differently. Everyone is afraid to do something different, they want to do the same things that everyone else does,” he said. “Businesses would be more successful if they would learn these lessons. They don’t have to listen to me, but they should listen to someone who can motivate them to do something different.”
