Sandoval - Rorex announcement

Janet Carol Sandoval, of Stevenson Ranch, and Phillip George Rorex, of Stevenson Ranch, were joined in marriage Aug. 29 in a “destination wedding” at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara. The couple were married in a double ring ceremony presided over by the Rev. Barbara Laughray of the Church of Religious Science.

The bride is the daughter of the late Joseph Maclovio (Max) Sandoval, of San Jose, and Antoinette Pearl Sandoval, of Santa Clarita. She is the granddaughter of the late Josefina Lucero Sandoval and Ramon Sandoval, of Anaheim, and the late Antonio Doria and Maria Vita Sportelli Doria, of Portland, Ore.

The groom is the son of Joyce Rorex and Richard Rorex, of Apple Valley. He is the grandson of Fred Rorex and the late Ruth Rorex, of Los Angeles; and Vera  Moeck and the late Carl Moek, of Gardena.

The bride was given in marriage by  Dominic (Leo) Doria, the bride’s godfather, of Pleasant Hills; and Enrique (Hank) Lucero, the bride’s uncle, of Oxnard.

 The bride wore a custom-made mermaid-style diamond white satin gown covered in a sheath of barely pink organza and adorned with relief handcut organza flowers and Sworski crystals. The gown included a matching organza train. The bride’s gown, train and fingertip veil were designed by custom dress maker Daniel James Cantu and the bride. She carried a bouquet of pink orchids, lavender hydrangeas, pink peonies and white lilies.

Maid of honor was Darwyn Carson, of Canyon Country. Bridesmaids included her sisters Chela Nancy Jo Sandoval, of Santa Barbara, and Robin Anne Sandoval-March, of Canyon Country, and friend Linda Robinson Meier, of Selma, Oregon.

The flower girl was Amanda Campbell, of Glendora.

The ring bearers were Andrew Rorex, of Inwood, W. Va; and Austin Rorex, of Alton, Ill.

Candlelighters were David Rorex, Caleb Rorex and Daniel Rorex.

Best man was William Bullock, of Carmel. Ushers were David Rorex, of Walnut Creek; Caleb Rorex, of Valencia; Enrique Lucero III, of Oxnard; Doug Free, of Malibu; Nuri March, of Canyon Country; Warren Free, of Anaheim; and Corin Fromm, of Winnetka.

The bride holds a masters degree from the University of California, Berkeley and is employed as a clinical social worker.

The groom holds a masters degree from the University of Liverpool, England. He is employed as systems engineer.

The wedding photographer was Tim Feilding. The organist was Mahlon Balderston, and the soloist was   Kevin Longden.                                     

Reception for 120 guests was held at The University Club of Santa Barbara — An historic landmark and private club built in the early 1900s in the Spanish colonial style.

Out of town relatives/guests came from West Virginia, Illinois, Minnesota, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Northern, Central and Southern California.

Before leaving for their honeymoon, the bride and groom spent four nights at the Simpson House Inn, an historic home and five-star bed and breakfast in downtown Santa Barbara.

The couple honeymooned for six days in Niagara Falls, Canada, then traveled to Manhattan, N.Y., for five days before spending two weeks at Disney World, Florida.

They will make their home in Stevenson Ranch.
