Art’s alive in the SCV

Sometimes I wonder if everyone who lives in this amazing community appreciates what they have in the way of community services within a few miles from where they live.

I love the arts. Performing or creative, they are here for me.
Maybe you would love to learn how to apply a talent you always thought you had.

Whatever you wish to try, you can find a community center or local school that offers you a chance to test your talents at a ridiculously low fee.

The Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons offers many live presentations at a very low cost, and some are free.

It is amazing what they offer, and they are within just a few miles from most of us. Why drive to L.A. for quality entertainment?

The one person I have seen over the years whenever I attend local community events for the arts is City Councilman Bob Kellar. He was there at the Santa Clarita Artist Association Art Classic on a Sunday and is a regular at the PAC for performances.

Add to that the fact that he is accessible. He was there to talk to everyone who attended the Art Classic, listening to their concerns.

Believe me, most artists are just trying to make a living and are rather shy, but the chance to have a one-on-one with a City Council member is very special.

Now where in L.A. could you get a one-on-one with a member of your City Council? Just another reason why I love this town — and I mean all of it.

P.S. Don’t ignore your talent. You might surprise yourself.
