West Ranch needed a win Tuesday night to stay in the Foothill League title hunt.

"She did a great job tonight, and she really doesn't get much playing time because she goes in for Angel and Bree (Braucher), who are two really good players," said West Ranch head coach Nate Sparks.

The Wildcats (13-9, 5-2) remain tied with Saugus for second place in the league, but has a match against Valencia on Nov. 4.

For Canyon (3-14, 2-5), Katelyn Reiner notched four kills and two blocks followed closely by Khrista Prudencio's three kills.

"It was a tough one for us," said Canyon head coach Brian Ingino.

Sage Hernandez added four blocks for West Ranch, and Shelby Kunz had 14 digs and three aces.

The win came on the Wildcats' breast cancer awareness night where the team was dressed all in pink and the decorations included balloon towers, streamers and bake sales to raise money for the event.

"It was a great event put on by Shelby Kunz tonight," Sparks said.
