An Encinitas woman was airlifted to University of Southern California Medical Center Tuesday morning after a three-car collision on Interstate 5, south of Vista Del Lago Road in Newhall.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. According to a California Highway Patrol report, a driver in a 2001 Volvo changed lanes on northbound I-5 forcing two other cars to swerve. The victim, who was driving in the far left northbound lane, lost control of her 1995 Honda, which collided with the Volvo.

The third vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet, reportedly fled the scene, according to eyewitness reports. Robert Fuller, 28 of Dublin, was arrested for hit and run on the northbound I-5 near Corpus Road.
