A 37-year-old Castaic woman was arrested earlier this week for allegedly stealing more than $65,000 from the Valencia medical office she was working at.

Over the last 18 months, Amy Rasmussen allegedly stole small amounts of cash from the medical office on the 27800 block of Smyth Drive where she was working, Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said in an e-mail.

Rasmussen allegedly altered entries into the office accounting system and tried to conceal the money she took, Cambra said.
But Rasmussen was caught after accountants found the discrepancies in the system.

Rasmussen was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of embezzlement, a felony, and was released from custody after posting $63,000 bond. She will be arraigned in Newhall Superior Court in November.
