A 14-year-old Newhall girl was arrested early Wednesday after an argument with her mother turned to blows.

The girl, whose name was withheld because she is a minor, was arrested on misdemeanor battery and vandalism charges, according to Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The fight reportedly took place in the 23700 block of Via Canon in Newhall, after the girl came home intoxicated late Tuesday night, Cambra said.

The girl reportedly tried to leave the house but was stopped by her mother. The two got into an altercation that quickly turned physical, Cambra said.

The girl reportedly delivered several blows to her mother’s head and upper body before leaving the home again.

The mother called the sheriff’s deputies, who arrived at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. The girl returned came home and was arrested, according to Cambra.

The girl was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and treated for intoxication. She is being held at Sylmar Juvenile Detention Center awaiting a court appearance, Cambra said.
