With the announcement of three new roller coasters at the Six Flags Magic Mountain for spring 2011, the popular theme park claims to have broken the world record for having more coasters than any other amusement park worldwide.

The theme park’s additions put the number of thrill rides at 18, which park officials claim bests the second largest park, Ohio’s Cedar Point, which currently has 17. With the new additions, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be able to reclaim the title of Roller Coaster Capital of the World.

Two of the new announced rides are designed for the bravest of thrill seekers. They are the Green Lantern, a first-in-the-U.S. vertical-track, spinning coaster, and Escape from Krypton, a thrill ride that sends riders backward for seven seconds at 100 mph.

In addition, in spring 2011, Six Flags Magic Mountain will offer its visitors a new children’s coaster. The ride, which reaches up to 21 mph, sits on a 679-foot-long track with a 28-foot lift.

Promoting its coming coasters, Six Flags Magic Mountain offers to grant free 2011 Six Flags Hurricane Harbor season passes for those who purchase four 2011 Six Flags Magic Mountain passes.
