The Santa Clarita Artists' Association (SCAA) will host its 21st annual Art Classic on Sunday, Oct. 17, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hart Hall at Hart Park in Newhall. A free public viewing will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Entertainment at the gala on Sunday will include:

Trish Lester is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Santa Clarita, whose heartwarming pop/folk style and truly original songs leave listeners laughing, crying and humming along. The title track from her CD, "Plymouth Belvedere" is included on a 2009 National Public Radio compilation album produced by the "Car Talk" show (www.CarTalk.com) and is now playing across the nation on NPR.

Lester's tribute to troops and veterans, "Thank a Soldier," is shared on a half-dozen patriotic websites, and several of her other songs are receiving airplay in Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She also sings with a trio, Women on the Move, a group that entertained at Congressman McKeon's Women's Conference in February 2010. You can find Lester on the Web at www.TrishLester.com.

Manak Khamvongsa is a guitar teacher and performer currently living in the Santa Clarita area. Originally from northeast Thailand, Manak has performed and studied music in Boston and Los Angeles. His solo repertoire includes traditional classical Spanish guitar, jazz arrangements and original compositions.

Scott Mitchell is San Fernando-based woodwinds instructor and performing musician. A member of the Ventura Jazz Orchestra and many professional bands in Los Angeles, his musical styles include jazz, bossa nova, classical and rock.
This afternoon party and fundraiser support an art scholarship for SCV high school students and an adopted Tloma Art School in Tanzania, where impoverished children get free art lessons and a daily meal.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. For more information and to purchase tickets go to www.santaclaritaartists.org or call (661) 244 7689.
