Santa Clarita City Councilman Frank Ferry recently wrote to the employer of Kevin Korenthal, a candidate for Castaic Lake Water Agency. Reading between the lines, it seems Ferry would like Korenthal fired for some of his campaign activities while running for public office.

Aside from the propriety of criticizing Korenthal’s race to his employer, worse — from my perspective — is Ferry’s use of the city’s stationary to write the letter. I know the city has some history on this issue and at the very least, I would urge the
City Council to make it clear that Ferry does not speak for the city.

Maybe it’s time for the city to revise its stationery use policy.
