A woman pushing her baby in a stroller was hit by a car Thursday night in Canyon Country while crossing the street, authorities said.

The woman and her baby were not seriously injured but were transported by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital as a precaution, according to an officer with the California Highway Patrol at the scene of the collision.

A man turning north onto Sierra Highway struck the woman at about 6:30 p.m. as she pushed her baby across Sandy Way.

The baby didn’t hit the ground, officers said.

Meanwhile, across the street, the driver of a Dodge pick-up truck rear-ended an SUV as southbound traffic on Sierra Highway slowed because of the first collision.
