Author-illustrator Braddon Mendelson will read his recently published children's book, "Have You Seen the Tickle Bug?" to kindergarten classes throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

A veteran writer/producer, whose credits include television, film, stage and Web projects, Mendelson originally wrote the story for his son, who had just started kindergarten at Stevenson Ranch Elementary School.

Before long, he found himself reading the story to his kid's entire kindergarten class.

It was an instant hit with the children and their parents, and the teacher encouraged him to get it published. Soon, other teachers began requesting him to read the story to their students, as well.

As his son advanced through the grades (he is currently in the fourth), Mendelson continued entertaining new crops of students with the story of the little purple creature who doesn't think anyone should ever be "too busy to laugh."

The recent publication of "Have You Seen the Tickle Bug?" has afforded him the opportunity to read the story in classrooms all across Los Angeles County.

"I know of nothing more gratifying than reading to kids," Mendelson said. "It's deeply rewarding."

A native Californian, Mendelson lives in Stevenson Ranch and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Albert Einstein Academy for Letters, Arts and Sciences.

Educators and librarians can request a reading by Mendelson by going to the official "Have You Seen the Tickle Bug?" website at TheTickleBug.com.
