Los Angeles County firefighter Joe Thomas, right, and emergency medical technicians from American Medical Response move an injured girl to a waiting helicopter. The girl was flown to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, and her mother was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. The mother was driving when she crashed into a tree near Wiley Canyon Road and Vista Ridge Drive. There were conflicting reports on the age of the girl. Fire officials said she was 4 years old; sheriff’s officials said she was 8 years old.
