Back to School Shopping
The Assistance League of Santa Clarita is featuring "Back to School" shopping through Aug. 30 at its Take Two Resale shop. Proceeds benefit various philanthropic programs, including Operation School Bell. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Summer Food Drive
Santa Clarita will host a special Summer Food Drive through Aug. 29 at three locations: City Hall, the Transit Maintenance Facility and the Aquatics Center. Donations may be dropped off Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and on Fridays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, Belinda Crawford at (661) 255-9078.

Senior Center Rummage Sale
The SCV Senior Center will host a monthly rummage sale on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items may be donated on the preceding Friday and Monday each month at 8 a.m. All funds raised benefit the SCV Senior Center.

Castaic Lake Programs
The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting two new programs at Castaic Lake Recreation Area. For Movies at the Lake, the community is invited to bring snacks, a comfortable chair or blanket and enjoy a family movie in Paradise Cove on the lagoon. Vehicle parking is $11 but the movie is free. Movies are scheduled for Sept. 5 and Oct. 3. A Summer Campfire Talk Series will be held every Saturday at the new campground amphitheater, on the east side of the lagoon, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There will be talks about sailing, kayaking, fishing, astronomy and local history. Wildlife Way-station Orientation

SCV Senior Center Movie

Sierra Club Events
Today 7 p.m. Mission Peak Moonlight Conditioning Hike. Leaders: Gaylon Rodin (661) 263-0568, Henry Schultz (661) 284-5613, Mary Ellen Dittemore, Ken Kerner. Moderate 5 miles, 1200 feet gain to view San Fernando Valley. Meet at trail head (take 405 Fwy to 118 Fwy west, exit Balboa north, 2 miles to Sesnon, west 1 mile to Neon Way, Right to end of street). Bring water, lug soles and flashlight.

Saturday, 6 p.m. Santa Clarita River Twilight Stroll. Leaders: Dave Morrow (254-5245), Henry Schultz (284-5613). Easy 3-4 mile stroll along the Santa Clara River with discussion on the effects from development to this vital water resource and wildlife corridor. Meet at 6 p.m. at Pavillons Shopping Center located on corner of McBean Pkwy/Magic Mountain Pkwy. in Santa Clarita (take I-5 North, exit at Valencia Boulevard, turn right (east), then left (north) on McBean Parkway. Turn left at first stoplight past Magic Mountain Parkway into Pavillons Shopping Center. Meet at far north side by River. Bring water, flashlight and money for a refreshment stop.

Sunday, Annual Fundraiser Party from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Our annual blowout will be at the Schultz's from. Donation of $20 for individual or $30 for family. Pool and spa available - bring swim suit and towels. Meet, greet and consume large quantities of everything. Main dishes, wine, beer and cordials provided. Skin Care Information Meeting
