Thanks for emergency response system in city

Once again I must extend thanks and commendations to the city of Santa Clarita. I am not exactly sure to whom the kudos should be directed, but I think at a minimum Ken Pulskamp, the city manger.

A tremendous crash occurred on McBean Parkway on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 2. A white Ford van had suddenly lost control, either due to a blown tire, locked steering, or driver error, and crashed into the paseo’s block wall at the end of Chimney Rock Road.

Within two minutes a paramedic unit was on scene, a minute later two sheriff’s squad cars appeared, a few minutes later a tow truck, and a couple of minutes later a city worker to set up a lane-closed light barrier and start cleanup.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

The thing that impressed me is the coordination between the Fire Department, the Sheriff’s Department and the city. Somehow the event was communicated and all the necessary personnel were dispatched within minutes.

It reminded me of the city’s response during the ‘94 earthquake, but in a more personal nature since it happened right next to my home.

So to whoever is responsible for setting up this great coordination and planning, “Thank you.”

It makes me very proud to be a citizen in the city of Santa Clarita.
