GOP is in denial

Sitting at a stop light thinking about the tragedy of 9/11, I noticed the truck in front of me had traded in its “BUSH/CHENEY” sticker for a “O: Worst President Ever” sticker, and it made me chuckle at the irony. It seems like Republicans are twisting themselves into denial knots over their previous golden boy’s eight years.

“He’ll run the government like business.” Ignore the fact that he bankrupted every company he owned. In a short recap: Bush and the GOP sold out a budget surplus for billions in dollars in debt on loans to give themselves and the Wall Street crowd a few more millions.

Bush, while on a seven-month vacation, repeatedly ignored warnings about Bin Laden — then immediately after 9/11 as the nation was licking its wounds, he told everyone “Go shopping.”

A few months later, after botching Tora Bora and letting Bin Laden escape into Pakistan, his thoughts on Bin Laden: “I don’t know. I just don’t give him much thought.” In 2003, he lied America into invading Iraq over mythical nuclear bombs.

Fast forward to 2007, when the GOP’s deregulation of Wall Street crashed the American economy; Bush cheerfully lead the $700 billion dollar tax payer giveaway.

Worst president ever? Without a doubt: Bush. And the GOP faithful voted for him — twice.

I can see why all the Republican drivers have removed their Bush stickers. It must be very hard to live with the guilt.
