Rabbi Choni Marozov lights a candle before the start of a Yom Kippur service Friday at Chabad of Santa Clarita Valley in Newhall. The candle is meant to honor those who have passed on. Also known as the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur is one of the holiest days of the year for Jews, and it is also observed by a day of fasting.
