Joy Bible study

Book fair
Who: Congregation Beth Shalom
What: “A Sukkot to Remember” Book Fair: Preschool-to-young-adult authors to sign books at book fair. There will be barbecue, books and bounce houses. The congregation welcomes authors Sarah Lynn, Betsy Rosenthal, Jean Blasiar and J.D. Squires. Guests encouraged to bring a gently used book, which will be distributed to charitable causes thanks to the help of Books for People, www.booksforpeople.org. The organization’s mission is to benefit charities serving homeless children, to raise funds for local libraries, and to keep books, CDs, and DVDs out of landfills.

See You at the Pole
Who: Students across the SCV and nation
What: “REVEAL,” Matthew 6:9-13, is the theme for See You at the Pole 2010, the annual global day of student prayer. See You at the Pole, is a student-initiated and student-led movement that started in the Ft. Worth suburb of Burleson, Texas, in 1990. The event brings students to their school flagpoles to pray for their leaders, schools, and families.

Helping AIDS patients
Who: St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church
What: Members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and the Lutheran Church of Hope will prepare and distribute bag lunches for AIDS patients at The Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. The program is run by donations and is free to those who wish to volunteer.
When: 9:45 a.m. on the third Thursday of every month.

Child-abduction prevention

Who: Santa Clarita United Methodist Church with Kidz ’n’ Power
What: Free child abduction prevention and self-defense workshop. Ninety minutes of life protection information and role play. Including methods to deal with bullies, child abduction safety tips, child identification cards and fingerprinting. Student must be 4 years old. Every child under 16 years old must have a parent or guardian present. Each student must fulfill waiver form.
