The first Mayor's Walk, which will be held as part of the city's annual marathon, is set for Sunday, Nov. 17.

The 2.6 mile marathon will be led by Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste and the Santa Clarita city council, and will begin at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd., Valencia 91355, at 7:15 a.m.

Immediately following the Mayor's Walk, the city council will host a free pancake breakfast at City Hall in the parking lot. The pancake breakfast is open to everyone and will also include a wide variety of information about the city's many services and programs.

"One of our big work efforts for this year is to continue our healthy Santa Clarita programs," Mayor Weste said. "The annual marathon is a great event for runners, walkers and supporters who enjoy a healthy lifestyle. We'd like to encourage everyone to join us for the walk and the breakfast immediately following."

The Mayor's Walk begins at City Hall and ends at the Valencia Town Center, adjacent to Buca di Beppo Restaurant. Participants may take advantage of the city's trolley for a ride back to City Hall to enjoy the pancake breakfast.

The cost to participate in the Mayor's Walk is $15 per person prior to Oct. 1 and $20 for registration after Oct. 1. All participants in the Mayor's Walk will also receive a commemorative t-shirt.

For more information or to register, log on to scmarathon.org or call the city at (661) 286-4018.
