The city of Santa Clarita Transit's North Hollywood commuter route celebrated its one-year anniversary last month by becoming the most heavily used commuter route with an average of 16,000 rides per month.

The route, known as the NoHo Express, connects Santa Clarita commuters to METRO Orange and Red Line connections and offers increased connectivity from Santa Clarita to North Hollywood, with the added convenience of mid-day return trips.

The NoHo Express began operation in August 2009 and during its first month, more than 11,000 trips were completed. During its first year, the NoHo Express quickly became the second most popular service with more than 137,000 trips.

"With the NoHo Express, and this summer's successful Beach Bus, Santa Clarita Transit continues to offer an incredible value and convenience for those who need to travel outside of our valley," Mayor Laurene Weste said.

Santa Clarita Transit commuter routes include Downtown Los Angeles, Century City/UCLA, Warner Center/Woodland Hills and the Antelope Valley.
