The Santa Clarita City Council will host its annual "State of the City" luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia grand ballroom.

The event is open to the public, however, reservations are required and can be made online.

The luncheon offers residents, business and community leaders an opportunity to learn about what programs and projects the city is working on and what is being planned for the future.

"The 'State of the City' luncheon is a great opportunity for the community to hear directly from their elected city council members regarding top issues facing our community," Mayor Laurene Weste said. "I think this is one of those must-attend events for residents and community leaders."

This year's theme, "A Salute to Our Sheriff's and Fire Departments," will also focus on major city issues, programs and projects.

Some of these include the new Old Town Newhall Library and streetscape programs, transit, partnerships, law enforcement, new fire stations, city-wide beautification, roads, open space and bike trails.

The cost of the luncheon is $40 per person and includes a commemorative gift.

The Hyatt Regency Valencia is located at 24500 Town Center Drive, Valencia 91355.
