Remembering 9/11 at Nixon Library features speakers, military and student performers

Free event to feature Bronze Star presentation to family of Yorba Linda Marine killed in action

YORBA LINDA -- A special remembrance on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, in the White House East Room at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library.

The public is invited to commemorate one of history's most tragic and memorable days with remarks by Orange County Sheriff and former Chief of Homeland Security for Los Angeles County Sandra Hutchens; public affairs commentator and historian Bruce Herschensohn.

The program will feature the presentation of the colors by a Marine Honor Guard and a special presentation of the Bronze Star by the United States Marines to the family of fallen Marine Cpl. Claudio Patino IV of Yorba Linda, killed in action June 22, 2010 in Afghanistan.

Musical presentations will be performed by more than 120 members of the combined Orange High School Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, the Villa Park High School Concert Band, and vocalist Robbie Britt.

The event is free and open to the public, but admission is required to tour the galleries.

The Richard Nixon Foundation, a not-for-profit organization at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library, 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda. Open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
