L.A. County to assist with Gulf oil-spill cleanup

The Los Angeles Department of Beaches and Harbors will help in the clean up of the BP Gulf Coast oil spill by sending a Beach Tech 2000 sanitizer unit.

BP placed orders for sanitizer units following the oil spill, but since an order can take several weeks to fill, BP asked existing owners of the sanitizing units if they would provide BP with them.

In exchange for allowing BP to use their sanitizing unit, the county will receive a new Beach Tech 2000 sanitizer unit. A new sanitizing unit is valued at approximately $50,000.
