Castaic resident named ‘Volunteer of the Year’

Antonovich, was named the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials’ Volunteer of the Year at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting. Rhoads has spent the last 12 years volunteering thousands of hours to park programs.

 

Castaic resident Kim Rhoads this week was recognized for being named the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials’ Volunteer of the Year.

Rhoads has spent the last 12 years volunteering thousands of hours to park programs, including day camp and senior programs, youth sports and special events. She also volunteers at a Castaic church and Castaic Middle School.

Among other honors, she has earned the Los Angeles County Urban Hero Award, the Los Angeles County’s Volunteer of the Year Award, and the California Parks and Recreation Society’s Champion of the Community Award.

Her latest honor came during this week’s Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting where Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich presented Rhoads with a scroll congratulating her efforts.
