On Aug. 25 at around 4 p.m., I was driving home after finishing my volunteer shift at the College of the Canyons blood drive.

On my way home I had car trouble, and with the help of a gentleman on the street, we managed to get my car into a parking lot. Unfortunately, due to the high temperature that day and my sensitivity to the heat, I soon developed heat exhaustion. I felt dizzy and began to pass out. The gentleman who helped me with my car called the paramedics and they quickly came and took me down the street to the emergency room at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

The doctors and nursing staff there were very professional and took wonderful care of me. I'm fine now, and no words can express my gratitude. The residents of Santa Clarita are most fortunate to have such an outstanding local emergency medical recourse.

Thanks again, Newhall Memorial, and thank you to the gentleman who called for help on my behalf.
