Legal, but inappropriate

A mosque in lower Manhattan is not the problem. Our First Amendment gives them that right, if they meet local zoning codes. Rather, efforts to advance Islam's sharia law, with its radical requirements of jihad and violence, is the unspoken issue.

Sharia law is a vicious, anti-female code that orders death by stoning, promotes child marriage and decriminalizes abuse of women. It also proclaims the duty of all Muslims to wage jihad against non-believers (namely Jews and Christians) and promotes violence to achieve its goals.

While there are some non-sharia-focused mosques, studies show that the majority are filled with violent teachings and literature. Any mosque, based on sharia law, will serve as a local branch office of the radical Islamic offensive against the west. Such a facility, located near the place where jihad achieved its most hideous triumph, is legal, but most inappropriate.
