The Signal and Screamin Daily Deals, an online promotional tool offering daily deals to consumers, announced a partnership today that will benefit SCV businesses, customers and local schools or nonprofits.

“It’s a local stimulus program,” said Peter Whyte, co-founder of Screaming Daily Deals. “Consumers get daily deals they might not otherwise get, and merchants get business they might not have generated. Schools also get a portion of the proceeds; money they wouldn’t have had without this program.”

Readers will be alerted of the program via promotions in The Signal newspaper and on the newspaper’s website, as well as in the SCV Business Journal. Consumers, businesses and organizations alike can sign up through a link on The Signal’s website.

The simple process involves consumers signing up online for free. At that point, the user can access scores of daily deals from merchants. The discounts range from discounts on food, health and beauty services, home and personal services, to entertainment and sporting events. Deals can also be purchased as gifts by using the “Purchase Gift Card” option on the website.

Consumers buy the product or service online and receive an e-mail the next day, which they can print for redemption purposes with their local business. Expirations vary by offer. The deals change daily and expire daily, so if viewers see something they want, they will need to make a same-day purchase.

Merchants pay nothing upfront to participate on Screamin Daily Deals.

“Its viral marketing, using lots of social media,” said Whyte. “And changing the deals offered on a daily basis keeps the offers fresh, making it a fun experience. You never know what deal you’ll find each day.”

Schools and nonprofits can sign up to receive proceeds. Likewise, community members may designate schools or organizations they wish to benefit from proceeds.

Sherri Carlton, community director for Screaming Daily Deals, recently said the organization gave Mountainview Elementary School in Saugus, a check for $858.41.

“Since launching our business, we have been successful delivering great value for clients and buyers,” said Benson Kane, Screamin Daily Deals co-founder. He also said it’s a great opportunity for the company to benefit the community.

Launching its business in February of this year, the company has been expanding rapidly and is now operating in other markets throughout California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and Illinois.

Ian Lamont, publisher of The Signal, said, “We welcome all opportunities to partner with good people and innovative companies like Screamin Daily Deals.  In these tough economic times, by partnering (with SDD) we are adding a creative and novel program that will drive sales and cash flow for our current customers, as well as benefits our local economy and schools. Local business, SCV consumers and our kids all win.”
