Santa Clarita Valley-based rock band The Feaver won top honors including a $10,000, new band equipment and other prizes in the finals of a contest staged by Los Angeles radio station Star 98.7 FM at City Walk in Universal City Friday night.

The contest started with a field of 74 bands, and five were selected through an elimination round at City Walk over the summer. Another five bands were selected each Friday night (one by popular online vote and the other four by the radio station).

One of four bands chosen by the radio station, The Feaver features Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, Zack Mendenhall and Cole Preston. They range in age from 13 to 15.

The Feaver was also one of the finalists chosen to play the annual Sunset Music Festival in Hollywood Saturday night.
