Lexus Jazz and Blues Series

The sounds of live jazz and blues bands once again fill Town Center Drive in Valencia during the 10th annual Lexus of Valencia Jazz & Blues Concert Series. Hours for the concerts will be 7-9:30 p.m. and they will take place on Town Center Drive adjacent to the Hyatt Valencia. No pets or outside food or beverages are allowed. Admission is free. The concert line-up includes: Friday - Lori Andrews JazHarp Quartet, Aug. 15 - Tom Nolan Band, Aug. 22 - Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps, Aug. 29 - The Delgado Brothers, Sept. 5 - Michael John & the Bottom Line. Performing Arts Theater Camp
Showdown Performing Arts Theater Camp will offer a full week of theater classes, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday throught Friday at the Sierra Vista Branch of the Santa Clarita Valley Boys and Girls Club on the campus of Sierra Vista Junior High School, 19425 Stillmore, Canyon Country. Free to members of the SCV Boys and Girls Club ages 12-18. Membership in Club is $24 a year. At the end of the Camp a performance of "A Voice of Our Own," written by teens, will be held. Summer Food Drive
The city of Santa Clarita will host a special Summer Food Drive between Friday and Aug. 29 at three city locations: City Hall, the Transit Maintenance Facility and the Aquatics Center. Donations may be dropped off Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and on Fridays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, contact Belinda Crawford at (661) 255-9078.

Assistance League Back to School
The Assistance League of Santa Clarita is featuring "Back to School" shopping through Aug. 30 at their Take Two Resale shop. Proceeds benefit various philanthropic programs, including Operation School Bell. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Vacation Bible School

Valencia United Methodist Church will be holding Vacation Bible School during the week of Aug. 4. Preschoolers through 6th graders are invited to join. VBS will meet 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Cost for the week is $40 for the first child and $35 for each additional child from the same family. Senior Center Rummage Sale
The SCV Senior Center will be hosting a monthly rummage sale on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items may be donated on the preceding Friday and Monday each month at 8 a.m. All funds raised benefit the SCV Senior Center.

Shopping for the Boys & Girls Club
Between Aug. 6-17, customers shopping at the Santa Clarita JCPenney will have the chance to round up their total purchase to the next dollar and donate the difference to the JCPenney Afterschool Fund, which will donate the money to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley. Castaic Lake Programs
The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting two new programs at Castaic Lake Recreation Area. For Movies at the Lake, the community is invited to bring snacks, a comfortable chair or blanket and enjoy a family movie in Paradise Cove on the lagoon. Vehicle parking is $11 but the movie is free. Movies are scheduled for Aug. 8, Sept. 5 and Oct. 3. Time Management Presentation
On Aug. 12th from 7:30 to 8:30 pm the Family Child Care Association of the SCV will be hosting a presentation on Time Management by Liz Hodson.
