Guest speaker at Heart of the Canyons
Christian author Beth Moore will deliver a message today from Louisville, Ky. Local residents will be able to see the broadcast from Southern Christian Church at Heart of the Canyons Church. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Both broadcasts will be held at La Mesa Junior High, located at 26623 May Way in Canyon Country. Tickets cost $35. Temple Beth Ami open house on Sunday
Temple Beth Ami will host an open house Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as a way for guests to learn more about the reform Jewish synagogue's programs and to meet the congregation. VBS at Valencia United Methodist
Valencia United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School starting Monday. Pre-schoolers through sixth grade are invited to take part in "Power Lab" to "explore Jesus' miraculous power." The school will meet 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. The church is located at 25718 McBean Parkway in Valencia, across the street from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Summer worship at First Presbyterian
Pastor Bill Barnes at the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall will preach a sermon series titled, "Games we play when it all goes back in the box anyway." The sermon will run through Aug. 31. Worship services are at 9 a.m. traditional and 10:45 a.m. contemporary style. The First Presbyterian Church of Newhall is located at 24317 N. Newhall Ave. in Newhall.

Oak Hill Bible to host first men's retreat
Oak Hill Bible Church, a nondenominational Christian church, will hold its first men's retreat Sept. 26 - 29 at New Melones Lake in central California. Daily Bible lessons, prayer and fellowship will be the focus of the trip. Houseboats will be utilized to maximize the camaraderie of men seeking a closer relationship with God.
