The city of Santa Clarita will host a free Enterprise Zone Breakfast Workshop on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at City Hall on the first floor in the Council Chambers.

This informational workshop will include a complimentary continental breakfast and provide local businesses with information on how to reduce their State income taxes.

Representatives from the city's Economic Development Division will facilitate the program featuring keynote speaker Max Shanker from The Tax Credit Company.

The workshop will show local businesses how they can benefit from the Santa Clarita Enterprise Zone program on their state income taxes and where to go for additional information. Businesses located in the Zone may be able to reduce their state income tax by 50 percent more.

"If you are a business in the Zone or looking to relocate into the Santa Clarita Enterprise Zone, this free workshop will offer valuable information for your business," Mayor Laurene Weste said.

Santa Clarita City Hall is located at 23920 Valencia Blvd., Valencia 91355.

About the Santa Clarita Enterprise Zone
Established on July 1, 2007, the Santa Clarita Enterprise Zone is designed to provide special California tax incentives to qualified businesses located within the Zone.

Since its designation, the city has issued more than 2,000 vouchers for the program, created or retained more than 2,000 jobs as a result, and helped more than 200 local businesses by providing more than $75 million in potential tax saving benefits.

On Sept. 15, 2010 the county of Los Angeles, the city of Santa Clarita, and the Santa Clarita Valley EDC will submit an application for a larger Enterprise Zone to include businesses within unincorporated Los Angeles County land.
