A Chatsworth woman remains in custody after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputiues arrested her on drug charges and outstanding warrants in Newhall Friday night, according to a report from the station.

Alonna Hays, 27, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of prescription medications, and false information to peace officer, in addition to two outstanding warrants for her arrest.

Deputies Dubin and Jones made the arrest after seeing a red and white van run a stop sign in the area of Newhall Avenue and Market Street. The deputies stopped the van, spoke with the driver and smelled burned marijuana, according to the report.
A search of the van turned up a purse containing a syringe containing what appeared to be methamphetamine. There were also numerous prescription pills in a metal container and a small amount of marijuana. The pills appeared to be generic forms of Vicodin and Dilaudid, according to the report.

The owner of the purse gave deputies a false name. When deputies located her identification during the search, they  discovered the two outstanding warrants.

The driver was determined to be uninvolved in any criminal activity. A passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old boy, was cited for possession of a cigarette lighter and released to his parent.

Hays is being held at L.A. County's Century Regional Detention Facility in lieu of $65,000 bail, according to the report.
