Daniel Otto of the Lightning Patrol is buried under filled backpacks ready for donation to the Department of Children and Family Services. Old Glory Boy Scout Troop 499 recently donated 18 new backpacks filled with school supplies to the local DCFS for children in need. This service project was sponsored by the Lightning Patrol in its effort to earn the BSA National Honor Patrol award. As part of the requirements, the Scouts also spent a morning working at the Children’s Hunger Fund warehouse in Pacoima bagging beans for care packages to be sent to needy families locally and around the world. “As a leader and parent of one of these scouts, I am so proud to be part of such an outstanding group of young men that is learning the importance of service and giving to others,” said Linda Otto, of Valencia. “Way-o Troop 499, and thank you to everyone that donated the backpacks and supplies.”
