Riley Botton, 6, of Saugus, tries a cooking/weather experiment to find out if it’s hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk. With the National Weather Service expecting triple-digit temperatures in the coming weeks, an unseasonably cool summer should soon heat up.

The William S. Hart Union High School District is accepting applications from local residents interested in filling a vacant seat on the Measure SA Citizens Oversight Committee.  The purpose of the committee is to review the use of funds spent from the $300-million school-construction bond passed by 2008 and issue reports on how the funds are spent.

The committee meets on the second Tuesday of every month, with additional subcommittee meetings if necessary.

Applications are available at 21515 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, or at www.hartdistrict.org/oversight/MeasureSA/

The application deadline is 4 p.m. on Aug. 27.
