The city of Santa Clarita invites the public to meet Paul Becker, the new Sheriff's Captain at an open house event on Thursday, August 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the first floor of the Century Room at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, 91355.

"The city is very excited to introduce our new captain to the community, and we encourage everyone to attend the open house and share your thoughts and ideas about law enforcement in Santa Clarita," Mayor Laurene Weste said.

Becker was named the new Chief of Police following an interview with members of the City Council, the City Manager, and other community leaders in March, a Sheriff's Department spokesperson said.

Captain Becker boasts nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience.

Prior to his appointment, Captain Becker served as a lieutenant for the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau, overseeing the gang task force, unsolved murder team, and an active murder investigations team.

He has also served in the Contract Law Enforcement Bureau; the Transit Services Bureau - Robbery and Assault team in Palmdale, Avalon, Carson, and Lakewood Stations; as well as the Custody Operations Division - Men's Central Jail.
