The city is set to hold informational meetings for FirstHOME, its first-time homebuyer program, on Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sept. 1 from noon to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The meetings will be in the Century Room at City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Blvd.

FirstHOME is funded by a grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, assisting low- and moderate-income families. The program offers low-interest, deferred-payment second mortgages to be used as down payments on homes inside Santa Clarita city limits.

The city will hold a lottery as part of the application process. The loans cannot exceed 50 percent of the sale price of the home. For more information, call (661) 286-4141 or visit www.santa-clarita.com/housing.
