Mansfield Among 'Top 40 Under 40'
Congratulations to Mike Mansfield, who teaches English at Bowman High School. He is one of the "Top 40 Under 40" young community leaders named in an annual program sponsored by JCI Santa Clarita Valley and the SCV Business Journal.

The program honors 40 members of the local business community, under the age of 40, who are active in the community. The 40 were nominated over a course of weeks by such organizations as the SCV Chamber of Commerce, Valley Industrial Association and other trade groups.

The final 40 will be honored at a reception Sept. 23 at Robinson Ranch Golf Club.

Local Students Selected for Junior Statesmen Program
Nine Hart District students were among 165 students from across the nation and around the world selected to take part in the intense and demanding Junior Statesmen of America summer session at Stanford University.

The prestigious program is offered to students with an outstanding academic record and potential for leadership. They also must be very active in the community and have an interest in making the world a better place.

The local students, many of whom attended on a full-ride scholarship, included Michael Ayoubkhan, Robert Block, Akhil Cherukupally, Lauren Garcia, Myles Killpatrick, Andrew Manalang, Christopher Russell, Evan Tikka and Brandon White.
