A 50-year-old Sunland man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglary for allegedly trying to steal about $440 in property from the Walmart on Kelly Johnson Road, authorities said.

Fernando Vasquez put a television, razor blades and a telephone in his shopping cart but tried to leave the store without paying, said Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

When an employee confronted Vasquez, he left the shopping cart and ran out of the store where he was arrested by deputies, Cambra said.

Vasques was arrested on suspicion of burglary and petty theft with a prior conviction.
