Two men have been arrested after stealing 100 lottery tickets from the Vallarta Supermarket in Newhall, authorities said.
Alvaro Garcia, 20, of Valencia, was arrested on suspicion of burglary Tuesday after detectives questioned him about the July 22 theft, said Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Detectives used surveillance footage to determine that Garcia was working with an employee at the store who was arrested on the day the crime was committed, Cambra said.

The employee put the lottery tickets in a grocery basket and then another man, believed to be Garcia, took the basket out of the store, she said.

So far, Cambra said, 49 lottery tickets have been recovered.
