Santa Clarita Valley resident Brandon Maddux will host a fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 19121 Dalton St., Newhall 91321.

Maddux hopes to raise enough funds for him and his team to go to Belize and volunteer with the King's Children's Home, "an orphanage that receives very little support from the government," Maddux said. "We will also be doing a couple of building projects for the Arms of Love Church."

The 18-year-old plans to go from Oct. 14 to 24. "However, I have to raise a total of $1,800 to be able to go," he said.

"We will be passing out school supplies, backpacks, and possibly have the opportunity to feed the needy on the streets," he said. "The only way I will be able to be part of this blessing to this country, which has a population of 300,000 people, is if I get support."

Madddux said he is accepting donations for his garage sale and invites everyone in the community to stop by on the 14th.

"All of the proceeds of the garage sale will go towards the $1800," he said. "If I make more then that throughout my fundraising, as I hope I will, it will all go towards the King's Children's Home."

Maddux said he is very excited to have this opportunity.

"Only with your help will we be able to care for the orphans, feed the needy, and build shelter," he said. "I love helping children and plan to spend my life doing so."
