A fire along Interstate 5 south of the Calgrove Boulevard exit was extinguished at about 12:35 p.m. after scorching nearly two acres, said Stephanie English, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokeswoman.

Some northbound lanes on the freeway are still closed, but officials are working to get them re-opened as quickly as possible, English said.

The fire erupted at about 11:35 a.m.A fire that sparked at about 11:35 a.m. along northbound lanes of Interstate 5 just south of the Calgrove exit has scorched a half-acre so far and was moving north, Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said.

Some northbound lanes on I-5 have been closed "sporadically" as smoke drifts over the freeway, said California Highway Patrol officer John Lutz.
