The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City and Los Angeles is pleased to announce that Pilar Penaranda has  been accepted for the 2010 school year. Admission to AMDA is extremely competitive; our students come from all over the globe and are selected from auditions held in 35 cities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and England. The full-time enrollment at the two AMDA locations is 1,000 students. AMDA was founded in 1964 as a premiere performing arts conservatory.

Penaranda is a senior at Hart High School where she was the ASB President. Her class recently voted her Best Singer for the 2010 graduating class. During her high school career she has won Best Female Vocalist two years in a row during national competitions, with wins in New York and in Chicago.

She also enjoys musical theater where she has played leading roles in “The Wizard of Oz,” “Annie” and “Grease.” She has sung the National Anthem at charity events as well as sports events for many years. One of her fondest memories was singing the national anthem at Dodgers Stadium.

Penaranda has been singing since she was age 4 and her biggest fans have been her three sisters, and her mom and dad. She has recently been accepted to a performing arts conservatory where she can study and prepare herself for her life long dream of becoming a New York Broadway performer.
