Matthew Gagnon was welcomed home Sunday, July 18 by his family after Gagnon and the 2nd BCT, 1-89 returned to the United States after a nine-month deployment to Iraq.

Gagnon’s mother, Andrea Gagnon, said the family, which also included Spec. Gagnon’s father, Gabriel Gagnon, and his younger brother Justin Gagnon, traveled to Ft. Drum, New York to participate in the Welcome Home Ceremony for the troops.

“We traveled there to make sure our son knows that we support him and that he had family waiting for him and that we are proud of him as well as all the men of the 2nd Brigade,” said Andrea Gagnon. “We were able to spend about three days with our son before he had to report back to duty.  We had a wonderful time!”
