UPDATE: 'Breaking Dawn' release party tonight at Borders Valencia

Scot Peeples, Borders sales manager, checks out the reservation sheet for Stephenie Meyer's new book, "Breaking Dawn" which will be celebrated with a release party on Aug. 1 at Borders.

 

In just two years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon in young adult fiction. "Twilight" was one of 2005's most talked about novels and translation rights have been sold in 33 countries.

The sequel, "New Moon," was released in September 2006, and spent more than 30 weeks at the #1 position on The New York Times young adult chapter books bestseller list.

"Eclipse," the latest book in the series released on Aug. 7, catapulted to the #1 slot on bestseller lists for young adult fiction nationwide after selling 150,000 copies its first day available. There are more than 5.5 million copies of the "Twilight Saga" in print worldwide.

The "Twilight" series is centered on a teenager named Isabella Swan (nicknamed Bella), her vampire love Edward Cullen, and her werewolf best friend Jacob Black.

Borders Valencia on Town Center Drive will host a "Breaking Dawn" release party 10 p.m. to midnight on Friday. Aug. 1 to celebrate the fourth release in the "Twilight" series.

Sales of the final volume of the series will begin at midnight. Borders will host a costume contest as well as a trivia contest, Edwards vs. Jacob debate and a chance to win a variety of prizes.

Wristbands will be issued all day Friday to secure entry to this event.
