Slow down, SCV

So much has been written about the tragic and horrific crash on the Fourth of July in Valencia, with most of the claims that the cause was speeding.

“Speed, speed, speed” in the Santa Clarita Valley is a way of life. Speed-limit signs be damned. This unfortunate collision will plague us for the rest of our lives. This should be a good lesson to all motorists who can’t control their speeding to realize the havoc that this crash has caused a family and the damaging repercussions to one and all.

Speeding in Santa Clarita has an unwritten code: “I’ll show you!” Speed up to show the other motorist how fast your car can go, speed up so the other motorist won’t infringe on your space or speed up to pass the car in front of you that is going at the speed limit, only to stop at the next red signal.

Speeding is extremely detrimental to the speedster and their passengers, and is a major threat to the unbeknownst motorist or motorists who might encounter them in a crash.

Santa Clarita residents, please slow down to a reasonable pace. There is a great world out there to enjoy.
