Sheriff’s detectives arrested a once-deported illegal immigrant after finding he had baggies of methamphetamine and a gun in his car and home, authorities said.

Byron Rousil, 28, was a convicted felon living in a Canyon Country home, authorities said. Sheriff’s officials said Monday they didn’t know what country Rousil was from.

Detectives pulled over Rousil on suspicion of speeding near the intersection of Fairweather Street and Camp Plenty Road on Friday, according to a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station report.

In Rousil’s car, detectives found four baggies of methamphetamine. They later served a search warrant at Rousil’s home and found more of the drug and a loaded gun.

Rousil was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He also faces possible federal charges for illegal entry into the United States, a felony that can result in a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison, said Virginia Kice, spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
