Cronyism apparently rife in local government

I am writing regarding the appointment of Frank Ferry’s secretary to the parks commission. The only information we have been given regarding her abilities and background in parks and recreation is that she has been Mr. Ferry’s secretary for the past number of years and seems to be good at that job.

Since the applicants seem not to have had any kind of approval process, not even a phone call to discuss their respective merits, I find it impossible to understand how the seats were filled.

I understand a number of applicants brought years of relevant, hands-on experience and expertise to the table.

How are we to have any confidence in our elected officials if they don’t even have an open approval process in place for these kind of appointments? And we are told not to worry about ethics?

I would like to add Laurie Ender’s name to this topic in that she seems to be a grave disappointment on the topic of cronyism and, if The Signal is correct in its quote, her maturity is also suspect.

I thank The Signal for staying on top of these topics.
