Los Angeles County supervisors Tuesday approved plans to build a $13 million aquatics building at the Castaic Sports Complex.

The design calls for an 8,000-square-foot pool building with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, changing rooms, an outdoor swimming pool and a shallow pool, according to a county report.

“A superb new addition to the Castaic Sports Complex, this world-class pool project will offer residents a vital recreational opportunity to swim, play and exercise in a first-rate county facility,” Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich said in a news release.

The pool project won’t be finished until the end of 2013.
