A more holistic growth

I am writing this letter to show support for the master-planned expansion project at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. I side with the overwhelming majority of community leaders who support this project.

I have lived in this community for over 22 years. I have seen growth that has made Santa Clarita a very popular and desirable place to live and raise a family.

I have raised four children here myself and have enjoyed the benefits of this community and what it has to offer. I wish to continue to do so and desire the same for my children.

As our city expands, one important part of its growth that has been left behind is the capacity of health care. The approval of the hospital master plan will allow an increase in the medical services offered in our growing community. When we are ill, it is important to be close to home and our families.

The elected City Council has a responsibility to provide responsible growth and infrastructure that includes a health care facility that meets the demand of its population. I urge their support of the plan, as well.

As recently stated in your publication by Mayor Bob Keller: "There are more than 175,000 residents in the city of Santa Clarita, and the City Council works hard to look holistically at the needs of the entire community in an effort to both preserve and enhance the quality of life for all current and future residents."

I urge our community's support to continue the enhancement of our community and vote to approve the master plan at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
